Natalie Bergman Celebrates Second Solo Album at Masonic Lodge
On July 25, Natalie Bergman took the stage at Los Angeles’ Masonic Lodge to celebrate the release of her second solo album, My Home Is Not In This World, out now on Third Man Records.
The record explores themes of love, loss, vulnerability, and faith, and perfectly balances nostalgic 60’s influences with a modern edge; melding disco, soul, and rock and roll into a sound that feels both timeless and new.
Bergman, known as one half of the musical project Wild Belle alongside her brother Elliot, has long drawn from a rich palette of influences: soul, jazz, reggae, and gospel among them. Her solo work expands on that foundation, with her latest release building on the emotional, introspective, gospel-rooted sound of 2021’s Mercy - this time layered with a more vibrant, pop-forward energy.
A packed crowd gathered beneath the wooden beams and stained-glass windows of the intimate Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Reverent and awe-inspiring, the setting strikingly echoed the essence of the new album. Making her entrance in a stunning ensemble complete with dramatic shoulder pads and glimmering oversized grommets, Bergman charmed the audience from the very first note. Her voice floated effortlessly toward the venue’s vaulted ceilings, supported by a band that included her brother Elliot. Bergman’s background singer, clad in a vintage-inspired mini dress, added an energetic feel to the performance.
By the end of her performance, Natalie Bergman had not only showcased the depth and versatility of My Home Is Not In This World, but also reaffirmed her place as a captivating live performer. Her blend of heartfelt songwriting, retro-infused melodies, and dynamic stage presence left the audience moved and uplifted. The show was a fitting celebration for an album embracing both vulnerability and strength. As the final notes faded beneath the glowing stained glass, it was clear that Bergman’s journey as a solo artist is blossoming, with much more to come.
