Slayyyter embraces “OLD TECHNOLOGY” on new single

Slayyyter returns with a wild romp of a new single. And she doesn’t come to play.

Slayyyter rose to prominence through Twitter after her song, “Mine”, grabbed attention on Valentine’s Day 2019. In less than 24 hours, “Mine” reached number 38 on the iTunes Pop Charts in the US. Garner has since gone on to release a self-released /self-titled mixtape (2019). Her debut album (2021’s “Troubled Paradise”) and sophomore album (2023’s “Starf***er”) were both released through the indie FADER Label.

“OLD TECHNOLOGY” immediately begins with a beat that makes it feel like the room is spinning. Right out of the gate, Slayyyter unleashes sass; dropping y2k /2010s nostalgia left and right, “You heard the song straight, straight off my iPod / Straight off the Tumblr blog. I am a God, yes, sir. / Keepin' my money stacked up on the dresser”. She’s feeling like a bad@$$; she’s ready to party and have a good time. “You copy-paste the vibe”, Slayyyter continues in the pre-chorus, but assures listeners, “I never chase the vibe”. She’s in a lane all her own.

“I'm having fun tonight / I'm doing drugs tonight,” she boasts in the chorus. “I -I'm cranking up / Old technology, f*** your critique (Yeah) / B****, what do you want from me?” The 29-year-old is too busy partying (and blasting tunes on retro tech!) to care what anyone else thinks. An interesting double entendre is present here as well: the word “crank” (at face value) means turning up the volume, but also slang for meth.

Verse two finds things starting to get out of hand, but Slayyyter doesn’t seem to mind as she sings, “Relapse into a bеnder…” this time, swapping out the word “money” on her dresser with, “…Big bag of rack on the dressеr”. She’s definitely referring to Coke here. The singer continues partying away as the metaphorical “room” continues spinning in the outro, “Old technology (I'm—, uh-uh) / Old technology, yeah (I'm—) / Old technology, yeah, uh (I'm—) / I’m doing drugs tonight”.

With a stomping, industrial beat, “OLD TECHNOLOGY” isn’t slowing down anytime any time soon.

“OLD TECHNOLOGY” serves as the fifth single off of Slayyyter’s upcoming major label debut album, “WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA”, scheduled to be released Friday, March 27, 2026.
