BENEE’s New Track Is As Sweet As “Cinnamon”

Bubbly, infectious hooks and sweet as “Cinnamon” on the surface. Bittersweet as you unravel it’s complexities. That’s exactly what the alt-pop singer-songwriter BENEE coveys in the fourth single and second track off her upcoming sophomore album “Ur an Angel I’m Just Particles”. 

The song, released on August 27th along with a music video, delves into the complexities of staying grounded and kind to those around you when life hands you turmoil to reckon with. The now Los Angeles based New Zealand native wrote the song with a few of her friends after moving to LA back in 2023. 

Delving into the lyricism is pure raw genius. “Cinnamon” perfectly encapsulates the experience of the dreamer who leaves behind what they once knew to pursue their creative endeavors, only to find there’s cracks in between the rose colored lenses. The sound reflects the dreaminess of the situation. The contrast is found within the storytelling of the lyrics. Nonetheless, BENEE was able to blend both positives and negatives from pursuing what she loves most into the ambitious, dreamy brainchild of a song we can’t stop playing on loop.
