From New Zealand to LA, Benee’s Album Is Her Most Intricate Work yet.
Benee’s new album “Ur an Angel I’m Just Particles” dives deeper into her journey from her move from New Zealand to LA and writing her album throughout that time. She shared that it was hard at some moments trying to balance the chaos of moving with writing her album, but that her album was able to reflect a sort of rawness and trueness to herself and her situations that previous records may not have shared.
When asked specifically about the run of the album, Benee shared that there was some background intentionality with the tracklist. “When it came to putting all the songs in order, I wanted it to be a special narrative that I haven’t done in the past. iI followed the chapters of obsession, breakdown, chaos, and ascent”
The album starts with her track called “demons” and ends with “heaven,” and she shared that the song heaven has that “ascent vibe” with more of that softer stringed sound. Benee describes the sound of this album as “the stages of a mental breakdown” and that she loved being able to transform her thoughts, feelings, and emotions into the record for people to resonate with.
She also describes the imagery of her album as one of her favorite processes to work on. Being able to tie together her themes of happiness, sadness, confusion, but also growth as an artist and human being is something Benee worked hard, intentionally doing, and we are loving the results.
