Olivia Rodrigo announces new album …and the title is more than four letters!

Get ready, Livies …it’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for!

A new era is upon us, as Olivia Rodrigo announced her new album today! Titled “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” (stylized in ever-trendy all lowercase), the album will be released Friday June 12th through the relaunched Geffen Records (under Universal Music Group). The project sees the 23 year old, once again, work with her longtime producer, Dan Nigro.

The “Drivers License” singer premiered the album cover on Instagram earlier today (April 2nd). The cover sees Olivia wearing a baby pink dress, sitting on a swing -swinging high into the wispy-clouded, soft blue sky. Her head tilted back in laughter.

“you seem…” serves as Rodrigo’s third studio album following the singer’s blockbuster “GUTS” album (and corresponding tour). In a March 2026 interview with “British Vogue”, Rodrigo explained that her new album would feature "sad love songs” and contain numerous romantic tracks that stem from “an undercurrent of fear or longing”.

In addition to (seemingly) depart from her earlier pop rock sound, this album definitely favors a more …unconventional album title. Whereas “GUTS” (2023) and “SOUR” (2021) contained four letters each, the third album’s lengthy title is both moody and ethereal all at once. While “GUTS” and “SOUR” also adhered to purple color themes (dark purple and light purple respectively), pastel colors are prominent with this new “you seem…” era.

Rodrigo initially began teasing this new era through her official website; the purple color theme slowly morphed into a maroon color over the course of a few weeks. Most recently, pink murals spelling out the word “love” (along with Olivia’s initials) and heart-shaped lockets have been spotted by fans. These lockets and murals have popped up in various locations worldwide, such as Los Angeles and the UK.

At press time, while no tracklist nor single have been announced yet, “you seem…” already indicates the world will see a completely different side of Olivia Rodrigo.

In addition to streaming, Olivia’s new album will be available on Vinyl, CD and cassette.
