Punk’s Not Dead - So Says the CBGB Festival

Anyone who knows anything about punk music and punk history has heard of CBGB. Whether you personally stepped foot inside the infamous CBGB bathroom and have your own tales to tell or have only been able to experience the club through your parents’ stories of days past, CBGB in the Bowery in New York City is hallowed ground when it comes to punk. The launchpad of the careers of legendary acts like the Ramones, Talking Heads, Blondie and more, CBGB is synonymous with punk, and now, punk is headed to the main stage.
On May 10, 2025 the official CBGB Instagram account cross-posted a teaser video with a new account called CBGBfest. The video showed the date “9/27” and a bunch of CGBG stickers. Fans immediately started speculating, and over the next two days, the pages posted two more teasers, finally concluding in an official festival lineup drop on May 12, 2025.
On September 27th, CBGB is being reborn, this time, at Under the K. The three-stage, one-day festival promises something for punk fans of all ages. From classic acts like the Sex Pistols, to modern favorites like Destroy Boys, the Brooklyn-based festival is sure to be something you don’t want to miss. Iggy Pop and Jack White will headline the festival along with 19 other generation-spanning acts.
Fans can register now for presale access at CBGBFEST.COM. Presale tickets go live Thursday, May 15 at 10 AM ET, with public on-sale beginning Friday, May 16 at 10 AM ET.
In addition to online ticket sales, the festival is offering a “Young Punk” ticket option to keep tickets accessible to younger fans. This special discounted General Admission ticket will be available for New York residents under 25 — in person only — at a box office pop-up at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Saturday, May 17 at 12 PM ET. This limited batch of 350 tickets (an homage to the original CBGB capacity) will be priced at $73, a nod to the year the club opened: 1973.
