Sombr Is The Homewrecker Of Our Playlist

Sombr has just released his newest single titled ‘Homewrecker,” accompanied by a music video featuring Milo Manheim and Quenlin Blackwell. He teased this song at the end of January on his social media platforms, and fans have been itching to hear the new record. This hit comes after his nomination for Best New Artist at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards. His newest track comes at the beginning of a new era in anticipation of his second album. ‘Homewrecker’ welcomes back that unique sound that Sombr employs, with soft drums and heightened beats while he sings, which amplifies his lyrics.

‘Homewrecker’ opens up the conversation about how he believes he is a better man fit for the girl he is in love with, rather than the man she's with at the moment. He writes, “You leave me filled with regret / At the end of the night /I always find myself wondering why,” expressing the history he has with a girl that he cared deeply about. In regretting what choices he may or may not made with this girl, he continues in desperation to prove himself to his love by saying, ‘Do you got plans for life? / 'Cause I don't wanna just romance tonight / I wanna see you in another light, oh, yeah”.

Continuing, recognizing that she may have feelings for someone else at the moment, he shares “I don't wanna talk down on your lover / I don't wanna be a homewrecker/ I just know I can be better, bе better, be bеtter.” He doesn’t want to cause problems, but also yearns for the woman he loves, which in the end heightens the sounds of the track, which illustrates a problem between himself and the other man.

If the yearning wasn’t enough, there is a deeply rooted devotion to his love, singing “I wanna kiss you on the bed and on the floor / When I'm poor, when I'm bored / I am yours, I am yours, I am yours”. It's almost as if he is holding himself back from the opportunities or the life he deserves. He is fighting hard to reserve himself for her, the dueler being himself.

To close, Sombr ends with “I don't wanna be a broken record / I just know I can be better, be better, be better”. His final urge to show that he can be enough for her, and that she can potentially remember the time spent with him from their past. That maybe that feeling they shared can be rekindled into a future that he really wants.
