Contrary to it’s title, “An Ending in itself” is a new beginning for sleeping with sirens

“An Ending In Itself” prompts the beginning of a new era, yet familiar sound, for rock band Sleeping With Sirens.
Their new single delivers captivating guitar riffs, classic screams from frontman Kellin Quinn, and powerful lyricism. The group last released new music with their 2022 album “Complete Collapse”.
The song shares similarities to their older releases; Some that specifically come to mind are “You Kill Me (In a Good Way)” from their third 2010 album “With Ears To See and Eyes To Hear”, and the notable “If You Can’t Hang” from their 2011 release “Let’s Cheers To This”.
“I think the best thing for us to do is to go back to where we started, and this song is the leading track towards doing that,” Quinn said to Rock Sound.
The release was accompanied by a music video, which displays visuals of falling leaves and burning tree branches - symbolizing the death of something and becoming anew.
The lyrical content consists of words encouraging one to accept a desolate situation, yet find hope and the will to move forward. “But can we stop pretending that it’s all so good?” is sung throughout the chorus, acknowledging that reality is not always bliss.
“This song is about being brave enough to admit that we’re not always okay. No matter what you’re going through, there is hope,” Quinn said to Alternative Press.
The tune pushes towards being forward and honest with oneself, and those who surround them with lyrics like “Can we say what's real? Say how you feel.” The single is the continuity of a message that is told throughout their discography - the realism of mental health and the weight of the world.
“This song is a love letter to anyone in the midst of struggle,” Quinn said to Alternative Press.
Each chorus concludes with “cause there’s a happy ending, it'll change with time”, shedding some light throughout the darkness.
