A year and a half after dropping her first single, "RIP”, ALYK took the main stage at Warped Tour Orlando in November. The singer serves as a testament that sometimes you need to "Make a Scene" to be heard.
Now, the budding it-girl returns with “THE FALL”, her first single of the new year. The anthem is carried by a heavier theme lyrically in comparison to her previous releases, yet is accompanied by the singer’s signature instrumentals.
Many of her previous releases, such as “MAKE A SCENE”, “IN YOUR DREAMS”, and “DENY, DENY” have a similar theme of revenge and rebellion; In “THE FALL”, she sits on the opposite side.
The anthem describes a scenario of punching someone when they are already down. It begins with ALYK describing her own internal misery and loneliness she has dealt with in her life, and develops into how this person’s actions have only added to her troubles.
ALYK cries out through her lyrics, cursing someone who once tried to take her life from her. She sings, “Maybe I was born to lie instead” in the first verse, contrasting with “Now I’m living in the shadow of your lies” in the chorus, expressing that she was given no choice in these words being expelled upon her, to be seen as the truth by those around her.
In the bridge, the singer belts “I was too young for you to ruin my life”, expressing her discernment and anger towards the person and the unfortunate scenario. She concludes with “I’ll take the fall this time”, noting that she will live with the loss of her dignity and true identity for the time being.
ALYK is preparing for a three-stop run through Florida with NO ONE ROAD in April. Follow ALYK’s journey on her Instagram @ALYKofficial and stream “THE FALL” below.
